Grand kids Summer 2010 cards
Materials: Card stock, Images/Words from stash, Computer”Card Making” program, Scissors, Glue
Summer should be a time of adventure for the grand kids, even if they never leave home.
The front of each card is a back round destination, with a flying car & driver.
The inside is a combination of computer generated greeting, cut out and pasted, along with grand kid appropriate collage elements.
These were quick to make, gathering the images, creating the greetings and cutting them out, then assembling them. Although we made these cards and sent them to the grand kids this is a project that kids, with some guidance could put together themselves.
Anyone who is into scrap booking will have a “stash”, but any one can recycle magazines pictures/images before the go to the recycle center.

Va – Va “Bling”

“Bling”
Project by Carol Hall inspired by “Gideon Golden Fish”
by Dot Lewallen as seen in the July/August 09 “Cloth Paper Scissors”
Overloaded with forgotten Beanie Babies, this is a large one, your not sure what to do with, or visit a Thrift Shop to find an animal of your choice for this fun project. Pull out your stash of buttons, beads & glitter! Here again keep cruising the Thrift Shops to find some “Bling” for this project.
Some minor surgery is needed on your animal of choice – open up a seam and add stuffing, in fact pour out the beans, then stuff, odd bits of batting from that last Quilt project works great, until you get a nice firm animal, such as in Plain Bling

Plain “Bling“
Next start with spacing out your larger buttons and Bling in a kinda/sorta symmetrical pattern on the body. Next add your beads and any other sparkles, such as the glitter add to Bling’s spine crest.

“Bling”
This project has no real wrong way to do it, the inspiration piece was completely covered with beads and bling. You can do as much or as little as you want. So have fun, it’s a great way to recycle a beanie baby and bring it out of the 60′s – 70′s into the new age!
Crafting a Summer Card

Summer Card Crafting
Simple Homemade Summer Cards
Materials: Card Stock, Paper Stash, Item Stash, Computer Card Program
I have made cards for the grand kids. Calling them “Summer Cards” at this point in time is wishful thinking! Yesterday and today 50′s and rain! The first of June is only 3 days away!
The front cover is a collage, Found a different “summer” image for the base of each card, then added other summery elements; cutouts, transfers, and silk flowers. Each card got a girl or boy figure, depend on the grandchild it was for.

“Kickback Relax” inside the cover used a computer greeting card program for the words. Printed out what was needed then pasted them on the pictures of sleeping animals. The pictures came from my “Paper Stash” this particular one from a newspaper.

“Its Summertime….”, again computer generated, cut out and pasted on the message page. The fairies from a sticker book and the feathers go back 20 years to Steve’s Cub Scout leader days.

“Logo” on the back came from a recently discovered part of the computer program. If you have a greeting card program on your computer and you haven’t explored it, Do So. Think outside the box, and don’t be afraid to experiment.

If it doesn’t work DELETE-DON”T SAVE. Work with “from scratch” or “blanks” it then becomes your original design – and there is a great deal of satisfaction in giving “Handmade”. Spend some time collecting your paper stash-Sales Fliers-Catalogs-Old magazines-newspapers-old photos-etc…. Then when that need to create hits-then the fun can starts!
